Започна второто ежегодно издание на наградата "Карл Велики" за младежи
Започна второто издание на наградата "Карл Велики" за младежи. Тя е предназначена за млади хора на възраст между 16 и 30 години, които участват в проекти, подпомагащи разбирателството между народите на различни европейски държави.
Тази младежка награда се връчва от Европейския парламент и от Фондацията за международната награда "Карл Велики" гр. Аахен. Победителите ще получат финансиране от 2000 до 5000 евро за съществуващи проекти, които подпомагат укрепването на усещането за обща европейска идентичност и сътрудничество. Представителите на най-добрите проекти ще бъдат поканени в Аахен, Германия, на 19 май 2009 г.
Печелившите проекти подкрепят разбирателството в Европа и на международната сцена и служат като модел за младите хора в Европа. Те могат да бъдат насочени към организирането на младежки мероприятия, младежки обмен или интернет проекти с европейско измерение.
Миналата година с първа награда бе удостоен унгарският проект "Студенти без граници", благодарение на който ежегодно стотици студенти от Румъния, Словакия, Унгария, Украйна и други страни се събират в работни групи за обучение по лидерство по европейски въпроси. С втора и трета награди бяха удостоени проекти от Великобритания и Гърция.
Срокът за кандидатстване е 16 януари 2009 г.

Charlemagne Youth Prize:
Second annual edition launched today
The second edition of the Charlemagne Youth Prize was launched today. It targets young people aged between 16 and 30 who have been involved with projects helping to promote understanding between peoples of different European countries.
Organised by the European Parliament and the Foundation of the International Charlemagne Prize of Aachen, the Charlemagne Youth Prize winners will receive funding of €2,000 - €5,000 for existing projects that foster a shared sense of European identity and cooperation. Representatives of the best projects from each of the 27 EU Member States will be invited to Aachen, in Germany, on 19 May 2009.
As well as promoting European and international understanding, the winning projects could serve as role models for young people living in Europe. In particular, the organisers are looking for practical examples of Europeans living together. The projects can focus on the organisation of youth events, youth exchanges or Internet projects with a European dimension.
Last year a Hungarian youth project "Students without Boundaries" was awarded the first Charlemagne Youth Prize. Thanks to this project, more than one hundred students from Romania, Slovakia, Hungary, Ukraine and other countries gather every year for leadership workshops on European issues. The second and third prize went to the United Kingdom and Greece respectively.
The deadline for applications is 16 January 2009.

How will the winners be chosen?
Deadline for submitting projects: 16 January 2009
The best three projects will then be selected in two steps.
First phase: national juries consisting of at least two MEPs and one representative of a youth organisation will select a national winner from each of the 27 EU Member States by 2 March 2009.
Second phase: A European jury, consisting of three MEPs, the President of the European Parliament and four representatives of the Foundation of the International Charlemagne Prize, will select the winner from the 27 projects submitted by national juries by 2 April 2009.
The prizes
The €5.000, €3.000 and €2.000 prizes for the best three projects will be presented by the President of the European Parliament and a representative of the Foundation of the International Charlemagne Prize of Aachen. The three winners will also be invited to visit the European Parliament in Brussels or in Strasbourg.
Representatives of the 27 national projects will be invited to the award ceremony in Aachen, Germany, on 19 May 2009.
