http://fortbildung.fzk.de/Englisch/index_en.htmlQualification and advanced training form part of the statutory tasks of Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe. The commitment to provide training is, to an essential extent, fulfilled by the Center for Advanced Technological and Environmental Training (FTU).
The courses, seminars, and practical laboratory sessions offered by the FTU for participants with different qualifications and educational backgrounds from science, industry, and administration, but also for the general public, are largely based on the technical and scientific competence of the 3,500 employees of Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe.
Another basis is provided by the intensive cooperation with other research institutions, industry, universities, and authorities. This ensures that the curricula always reflect the latest developments in research and development.
Originally founded to satisfy science’s and industry’s urgent need for training in the fields of reactor physics, nuclear engineering, radiation protection, and radiochemistry, FTU has continuously been adapting its training to the changing activities of Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe.
At present, an equally important role is being played by topics such as environmental protection and industrial safety, management, information and communication technology, international know-how transfer, and broad dissemination of information.
The training offered by FTU corresponds to external customers’ requirements. This training offer is complemented by in-house training activities tailored to the needs and demands of the employees of Forschungszentrum, but also open to external participants. At present, about 850 training courses attended by 12,500 participants are annually performed in both areas.
