Lifelong Learning Project
« -: 28.01.2009, 09:28:40 »

We are proposing a Lifelong Learning Project to the present call (with deadline
in the end of March) as the file attached summaries.

We are looking for partners who may be interested in the subject of learning
Mathematics using specific web-tutorials, considering the type of students with
some specific characteristics.

            Your contribution are welcome and the guidelines we are following
are:

·   five/six colleges;

·   each one with a team of three/four elements (subjects: Mathematics area, as
target; Informatics, to build the web-tutorials; Pedagogic, to curricula and
Bologna analysis; other?)

In the period of project submission, we only need a preliminary analysis of the
steps proposed, namely: curricula tuning; web-tutorial modules structuring;
activities control designing; results spreading.

Activities and targets are defined in a general way, and they need to be
specified in a consensual way, but later. With focus in the time horizon
(March31), we have to simplify the procedures to satisfy the horizon, due to
administrative leadtimes.

Best regards,

Summary: LLP
At present, high education institutions are under pressure due to Bologna
Process, to the need of people learn along the entire life, but also to the lack
of competences on basic sciences, like Mathematics. Forced by these issues,
efforts are combined to share expertise in the Mathematics field, and the
integration of pedagogical methodologies is a necessity.
The objective is to develop standardised Mathematics web-tutorials,
which will diminish the differences in level and contents that actually exist
in each participating country, by combining the expertise of the institutions
with an extensive experience in Mathematics or Sciences area. The webtutorials
development will run simultaneously in three educational
institutions across Europe. To realise the web-tutorials we have to further
tune the curriculum among our institutions, set up a structure for the webtutorial
modules, and develop quality control, in concordance with the
Bologna Process (ECTS and Diploma Supplement).
The target group for the web-tutorials are first cycle Bologna students,
who can update or expand their basic skills on Mathematics, namely:
a) Engineer or Science students, revealing lack of competences on
Mathematics basics;
b) Working students, returning now to studies after a long time of
practical work;
c) Students of Management or Social Science areas, who need to apply
some Mathematics tools, but they had not formal classes.
Assessment of the web-tutorials, which are available for all students in
the consortium and for external students, will be done by each institution
and a common procedure on the assessment method will be established.
According to the expertise and research skills of the staff, each
institution will provide and support the project in close cooperat ion with
incoming teachers on mobility. By its dynamic, the project also promotes
student mobility, due to autonomy improvement and to self-learn
empowerment.
