We would like to offer a great opportunity to work and study in the U.S.A. to your students. First of all please find below more information about the "J1 Academic Program", offered by Walt Disney World.

Walt Disney World is offering an exciting 6 Month Program called the J1Academic. The selected candidates have the wonderful opportunity to work in one of the Disney Resorts in America (Florida or California) while studying in an accredited American University.

Academic Part of the program

This program is designed for students who have already earned at least a 2 years post high school degree in 2007, in 2008 or who will earn it in 2009 (in Tourism, Trade, Business, Management, Hotel & Catering, Languages, Sales...) and would like a focused academic training related to  tourism, theme park, resort, restaurant & hotel management.  Master's students can also apply for the program.  The J1Academic program gives the students a first international experience while learning in an accredited American university.

Students will have the opportunity to take series of seminars and courses focused on the Tourism & Hospitality Food and Beverage Management and they will earn, at the end of the program, a certificate of Hospitality Management from a well known American University.

    University of Central Florida:

§         Leadership & Motivation in Hospitality

§         Restaurant Brand Management

§         Introduction to Theme Park Management

§         Information Technology & E-Commerce in Hospitality & Tourism

§         Introduction to meeting and Event Management

§         Guest Service Management

§         Hospitality & F&B Management

§         Survey of Wines of the world


Studies proposed at the Collins College of Hospitality Management           

      California State Polytechnic University:

§         Event Management

§         Food and Beverage Operations

§         International Travel & Tourism

§         Hotel Operations

In addition to theses classes provided by the university, students will have the opportunity to learn from On-Line self-directed courses. 

Professional Part of the program
Students will be placed in entry level positions (such as Food and Beverage, Hospitality, Merchandise, Attractions, Lifeguard...) in one of the Disney Resorts or Parks (in California or Florida). 

The students will work between 28 and 40 hours a week at a pay rate between 7 - 12 $/Hour based on role.

In addition to the classes provided by the University, they will be able to participate in a wide variety of educational workshops, professional development studies, and learning activities offered at the Walt Disney World Resort to supplement their program of study. 

Living and Conditions
The students will live in a fully furnished apartment located near the Disney property. The rent will be between 80 and 160 US$ a week. Students will be sharing their apartment with cast members coming from all around the world.

Cost:

As all the American Universities bring a cost, it is important to consider that in order to be able to do this program, students will be responsible of their admission fee :

The  Rosen College program will cost 2 225 US$ and the Collins College program will cost 2 250 US$.

In addition, students are responsible to pay the following:

- Flight

- Medical insurance = 400 US$ for the whole contract

- Program assessment fee (Deposit for the apartment) of 100 US$

- Visa application fee of 250 US$
Please note that all the cost listed above might change.

The next departure dates will be in April, July and October 09 and the program is for 6 Months. 
To apply candidates must be at least 18, have a conversational level of English, and be willing to live with people coming from all around the world.
