European Students’ Forum AEGEE – Lodz has a great pleasure to invite to the international
conference American Europe which will take place between 29th March and 1st April 2009 at the University
of Lodz.
The conference is organized by local unit of international organization European Students’ Forum
AEGEE which is represented by 15.000 students, active in 232 academic cities, in 43 countries all around
Europe, which presents amazing culture variety. AEGEE is a secular, non-profit organization, not linked to
any political party. All projects and activities are based on voluntary work of its members. The main aims of
AEGEE include promotion of a unified Europe without prejudices, striving for an open and tolerant society
of today and tomorrow, fostering democracy, human rights, tolerance, cross-border co-operation, mobility
and European dimension in education, which is being realized within four Main Fields of Action: Cultural
Exchange, Active Citizenship, Higher Education, as well as Peace & Stability.
The main goal of the conference is increasing students' awareness of American contribution to
Europe in terms of security and defense policy, influence of culture and adoption of American pattern of
free market economy. We would like to engage youth in shaping predictions about future relations between
USA and Europe and to comment the promotion of American ideas on European ground. The conference
is being organized under the honorary patronage of the President of Lodz, the Rector of the University of
Lodz and the Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
Therefore we would like to invite all the students who are interested in the topic and want to
actively analyze and discuss issues mentioned above. The main part of the conference will be held
between 30th and 31st March. Besides, on the day before (29th March) and after the main event (1st April)
there will be sightseeing of the City of Lodz and other cultural parts organized.
The participation fee is 20 EURO, which includes accommodation, 3 meals per day (at least one
warm) and all entrance fees (museums, clubs, etc.)
